Greetings!
This is a friendly reminder that Lent begins tomorrow, March 2nd, and we will be having our Ash Wednesday service at 6pm in the Family Life Center of Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church.
We hope you can make it to the service as we begin the Lenten season. This year, we are asking members to not give up something, but rather to pick up something. The reason why people give up something for Lent is because it should provide a reason to contemplate Christ. For many, this has become a rote practice that does not cause reflection. For others, it is simply an excuse to cut back on chocolate or caffeine.
To make this a truly reflective season, we will be passing out a “40 Days of Praise, Worship, and Prayer” booklets that will provide you with an easy way to have a daily scripture and a means to reflect on Christ and what God is doing all around us.
Lent is when we reflect on what we need to do to turn back to God and to more closely follow scripture. It is a time of repentance as we prepare to face what Christ did for us on the cross. It is a time of preparation.
Let us begin our preparation together.
See you at the Ash Wednesday service!
Peace,
Pastor Myron
