Greetings, Friends and Family of Grace Wesleyan!
This weekend is the fifth Sunday of the month of August. As such, it is special giving Sunday. Earlier this year, our Leadership Council voted to designate ONE special giving opportunity per quarter to be held on the fifth Sunday weekends…which happens four times per year. We have a specific cause we collect for, and it is the “No Church Left Behind” initiative of the Wesley Covenant Association.
The “No Church Left Behind” program is to assist churches led by minority pastors, pastors of color, female pastors, and small church congregations that want to follow the path of traditional Methodism. This means that many of them will depart from the UMC and lose any subsidies that they currently receive from that denomination. This fund is intended to help them transition when the Protocol for Separation finally does become a reality.
We at Grace Wesleyan feel very fortunate that we have resources that are part of the faithful discipleship that our members exhibit with their tithes and offerings. Thus, we feel called to offer an opportunity to further extend ourselves through above and beyond giving to this most worthy cause. Whether we end up joining the new Global Methodist Church or not has nothing to do with whether we support our sisters and brothers who might need some assistance in keeping their faithful churches and pulpits funded and operating in their respective communities. Just as the Apostle Paul collected a special offering from the churches in Asia Minor to help struggling Christians in Jerusalem, many of us feel similarly called in this day and time.
Please consider a special above and beyond gift to this ministry fund. You may mark the giving envelope as such in the service, and their is a special tag in the online giving for No Church Left Behind if you prefer to give online.
Thank you so much for your continued faithfulness. I am honored to be your pastor and I am humbled at the outpouring of love and resources that has become the hallmark of who we are at Grace Wesleyan Church!
Grace and peace to you,
Pastor Myron
